2nd Generation boosted b16 vs Mr2 need help

I was at the track on friday and decided to race my car, me and a friend was at it all night he has a 1997 honda civic with a b16 engine, t4 turbo 3 inch exhaust the first few races i owned him i beat him of the line and he had to play the catch up game so friday night was a success for me! but on sunday it was a different story the guy came with drag radials on his car and ten psi. i had him off the line but on top of third he just ran me down, bare in mind i am completely stock with only a air filter! I ordered my tdo6 turbo kit but i wanna max out my stock turbo! so what do you guys think i should do to beat this guy i know if i put the tdo6 on i would own him but i wanna beat this guy with my stock turbo!

Its best to stay at 15 and under with these two. You don't want to overstress your turbo and engine. You also need a proper aftermarket boost guage to meter how much you're boosting, because the stock boost guage doesn't meter boost accurately.

Oh yeah trust me you can really feel the boost kick at 15psi. I believe you'll get up to 5-10hp every psi you go up, so you'll feel the difference.

And I agree for a third. That b16 should be running 13's on 6psi (assuming he has correctly had it turbo-charged and tuned)

one other thing that is almost completly irrelevent... but I still want to say it... If honda's dont win in 3rd,.. they dont win.

that being said.. they have no launch and NO TORQUE!!!! You will kill him off the line every single time, no matter what.

The geneal rule of thumb for stock mr2's is every 1psi = 8-10whp. If you have basic bolton's like full exhaust (downpipe especially) and intake, you can take that up another 5-10whp after...

i wouldnt go over 15psi untill you get a bigger intercooler and maybe some fuel management. but at 15psi you should be well on your way to spanking his ass.

My buddy has a 2000 civic si with a boosted LS/VTEC... that the Integra LS B18B with Integra GSR components, and the civic SI VTEC heads,.. and running 7psi on street tires.. he dyno's 221whp and he only runs 13.1@98mph.. his low trap speed means he has no low end.. just like every other honda.

GL man.... dont get greedy with your boost, you will crack your engine.

there is no magic rpm number...its all depends on how your car reacts and if it bogs or not...you should have enough track time by now judging by your posts about how often you're at the track to know how hard you can launch your car..
