That's not actually accurate.
What happens after 15 psi, is the turbine housing becomes a serious restriction to flow. As more air is forced into the engine, it can't be exhausted fast enough so it starts to have reversion.
That is when the dirty, burnt up exhausts starts to get pushed
back into the combustion chamber ... since THAT air is hot, dirty and burnt already, it
greatly increases the chance of detonation.
The air coming out of the compressor is not any hotter than it would be at 16 psi on any other turbo.
As for the set up in question, just because people do it does not mean it is recommended.
The minute amount of extra "hp" you are getting for 2-3 psi at the top of a CT26 does not justify the risk to the whole engine.
