T3 downpipe

HELLO EVERYONE .... THIS IS MY LAST (OUT OF MANY) PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY CUSTOM T3/T4 TURBO KIT ... THANKS TO EVERYONE HERE, I GOT OVER SOME OBSTACLES THAT COME ALONG WITH A CUSTOM JOB BUT I STILL HAVE ONE LAST THING... I HAVE A 3IN. STAINLESS STEEL DOWNPIPE THAT I PLAN ON REUSING FOR MY SETUP.... THE PROBLEM IS THE FLANGE IS FOR THE STOCK CT-26.... I WANTED TO KNOW IF IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO CUT OUT THE FLANGE THAT BOLTS UP TO THE CT-26 AND KINDA REMANUFACTURE IT TO FIT THE T3 FLANGE.... I KNOW ITS POSSIBLE I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF I WILL NEED TO KNOW ANYTHING CONSIDERING IT IS STAINLESS STEEL... AND IF ITS A GOOD IDEA....

If you did that.... I highly doubt the downpipe would clean the oil system. Your best bet is to have a new one made.

The problem is, the length of the downpipe depends on the THICKNESS of your adapter plate to get the the T3 onto the exhaust manifold. Unless you are doing a completely custom exhaust, you need to have an adapter plate AND downpipe made together to fit the stock locations.

Ahhhh... I know what your talkin about now.... how about if i weld the t3 flange into the downpipe and shorten it the difference near the bottom (before the 90 deg. angle) ??? That would result in a shorter downpipe ... What do you think about that idea Hyde??? or

The problem with is chances are your downpipe is not truly "straight."
If you just shorten it, you may be changing the angles of things.

This is why turbo kits cost what they do.
You are paying for someone else's time to have solved the puzzle of having everything line up (manifold, adapter, turbo, dp and exhaust).

If you are going to pick-n-choose pieces that were not designed to work together, chances ar you are going to have to fabricate or modify something to make everything work.

Your idea may work ... good luck.

Sounds like you exhaust is going to be in several pieces... I would personally just spend the extra money to have one custom built. Sell your current downpipe and put that money towards having one built.

Does your T3 have an internal or external wastegate? Maybe I am picturing this wrong. I am seeing a 3" diameter circle as the DP for the T3..... where the CT26 is an awkward oval. Making a decent adapter seems like it would push the dp out pretty far from the turbo. All of the 3" dp's I have seen are pretty damn close to the oil system.

Just some things to think about...

ish, I was refering to the turbo->manifold adapter.
I was not suggesting an adapter from the turbo->downpipe.

The wastegate is a whole other issue he is going ot have to resolve.

From what I've read he is talking about making his existing dp work on his T3... i could be completely wrong though. Just thinking about the pains of this kit gives me a headache.....

Sorry for all the confusion... let me try to make things clear.... I will be using my manifold and I do have an adapter for the turbo to fit into the manifold... I will be using an external wastegate.... and i do not plan on making a adapter for the downpipe... My idea is to cut out the standard flange that connects to the ct-26 and sort of weld the oval shape into more of a circle then i can weld on the flange for the t3.... Then i plan on shortening it in the middle (where it is somewhat straight) the difference that the manifold adapter will make...

If i am missing anything else... let me know.... you guys are the best....
