3rd gen 3sgte or beams

i cant decide what engine to get...but i want instant throttle response (why i want a beams) n/a = awsome response but do you guys know of ways to get instant or almost instant response off a 3sgte? i know it would help if i kept a smaller turbo (probly getting a small 16g for it) so it dosent have a longer time to spool up, but the way i use my car power is almost nothing you need some but to much is a bad thing do you guys think i will beable to get very good response from that setup on a 3sgte? or do you guys have tricks with toyota engines for lag ( havent worked on toyota yet) there where some ways with dsm's (why i am getting a small 16g VERY cheap good turbo's)
o btw i want to get around 280 to 300 hp and about as much tourqe this will be a lil more work on a beams but this car is going to be built just for this so i was looking for what you guys think is best

I'll never understand why people that complain about lag want turbo cars?!
Why not just drop a V6 in it? You cna alwasy supercharge that for even more power.

^ I dont see why not. People have put everything from 5sfe's, to 3sgtes, to V8's. I'm sure the 3SGE would go in with enough time and $.

Beams??3sge..??

Oh man,now i am confused.I always knew there was the 5sfe and the 3sgte engines for the 2,but what is a Beams? Are they compatible with toyota's..?What kind of HP do they have? Are they a turbo or supercharged or what?Crap, are they hard to find??How much do they cost and where can you get them?So many questions..................sorry for rambling on but I'm just curious, thanks all.

Pretty sure the Beams is a JDM 3s-ge (IE no turbocharger)

As far as I'm aware, the second gen JDM 3s-gte motor puts out 250 flywheel horse power, and the boost comes on at around 2K RPM. At what point do you plan to have your motor below 2K in a situation where the turbo lag would matter in the first place? If you're that concerned with making 300 horses on an NA power plant...take Jeff's advice and throw in a 6cyl. I know there's at least one person on this forum who has done so, and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to throw some pointers your way. Besides, it'd be a lot more hardcore than a beams...

eh i have a 1991 mr2 btw lol i guess i implied i have a mk1 but anyway my outlook just totally changed on it i am used to cars having later boost then 2k....and i am usually around 4-6 at least so i dont think i will be getting lag anytime in there i just love how n/a cars worked befor i heard this (all the bossted cars i drove lagged the became a rocket) so not to look newb i just forgot toyota is GOD :P
o and beams engines usually came with 200hp and 210 torqe (what all the stats i saw said anyway)
