What head gasket to use?

I have a 91 2.2 liter non turbo 5SFE and I just purchased a turbo that came off of a 3SGTE. I was told by the person who sold it to me that I would need a new metal head gasket that would increase the distance of the cylinder head from the block in order to lower the compression and compensate for the newly installed turbo. He wasnt specific where to purchase this nor did he give me any specs on what thickness the gasket should be. Not too sure if this is even correct so any info would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

you do need to lower you compression to go turbo in order to avoid detonation. a cometic gasket will work great. go with the thickest one.But I hope you have all the neccessary hardware to make your N/A accept the turbo.. thats quite an under taking and far from just "slapping on" a turbo. do you have the right ex. manifold, fuel enhancement, Intercooler, oil lines, water lines, vacuum lines, boost gauge, boost controller, down pipe, exhaust piping? and forged pistons would be reccomended too. some of the others that have done swaps may elaborate more...

Thanks for the heads up MR2BAD - I just got off the phone with cometic and they recomended the right gasket. As far as all the parts go, I have the manifold, fuel enhancement, Intercooler, oil lines, water lines, vacuum line, down pipe and exhaust piping. Im working with a shop that is helping me out. It is quite an undertaking but with some time and patience im sure it will all work out. If there is anyone out there that has performed this swap chime in with your 2 cents...Thanks again MR2BAD!

man...with as much money as that's going to cost you, you might just want to buy a 3s-gte and swap it in.
