2nd Generation I got OWNED lastnight!lol

hey guys lastnight i got defeated by a friend who owns a 94 toyota starlet with a 1.3 turbo engine(yes its a 1.3) he has a turbo upgrade and a computer upgrade and a few other mods all were bolt ons! okay this is how it went the first race i beat him off the line leaving him 2 cars behind me btw my car has a nasty exhaust leak and the car wasnt going over 7psi(i dont know why) by third gear he ran pass me beating me by a fender! The second race the same thing happened but he ended up beating me by a car length! i know that my car could beat his car but i really need to get the boost situatioin fix along with my exhaust leak! so now i have a guy in town sayin he owned a 3sgte ! i want you guys to tell me what u think the problem is why the boost wouldnt go over 7psi sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt! do you guys have any suggestions what it is ?

t-vsv will toggle to low-boost mode if engine requirements are not met:
- water temperature too low
- ambient temp too low

if knock sensor detects knock, timing is retarded.

No, a new knock sensor won't fix anything. Your knock sensor isn't broken.

Do a tune up. And un-plug the t-vsv electrical connector.

Do you have a boost controller.
(I guess, yes)
Did you remove the T-VSV when install the controller?

7 psi (wastegate spring setting) is not low. It's normal boost.
T-VSV actually allows boosting above ~7psi by bleeding air out of the actuator.
In your case, it didn't boost more than 7 psi because the T-VSV did not allow it.
Unsuitable condition can directly and indirectly causes this.
(too high temp, too low temp, excessive knock, etc..)
