MK1 Bad idle after intake install

I put a short straight tube from the intake to the maf, so it's a straight shot instead of the stock bent one. Then I put a cone filter right on the end of the maf. Everything is hooked up right, nothing messed up with the tubing. The two into one stock vac line is good. It runs great. Just at idle it wants to stall. I tried turning the idle screw, but that doesn't really help. It just affected the idle. Should I try unplugging the battery overnight to reset the PCM? I guess it's just getting to much air? What should I do? Thanks
