First off let me state that this is not a sale thread or about which motor is best, or why not spend $5000 on your stock motor to build it up. This is simply to see if there is enough interest to produce this kit. Second, we are mainly a Honda shop, but decided to take on this project because we specialize in the K20 swap.
Our shop is currently in the middle of doing this swap for a customer. Rather than make a "one off" kit, we would like to see if it is worth it to make 25-50 kits. So far we have completed the prototype mounts, shifter mechanism, and are about half way done with the header. Mount Kit $400-500 Shifter Mechanism $150-200, Header $800-900, Axles $400-500, Plug and Play Harness $300. These prices are only ball park prices, and this thread it to gauge and see if there is an interest in pursuing this swap. Please feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions you guys may have!
this is a really cool swap. However, i can't see how the hp numbers are only in the 130s. the motor is rated at 210 right? Thats quite the drop, considering the drive train is shorter as well. Any thoughts on that?
To me its a waste of money, all the money you spent on that swap could have gone into makeing the stock motor way better. The only thing that i see that is good about the swap is that now you have huge aftermarket support on the K20. Now you can upgrade till you cant upgrade no more. IMO I would never swap motors with different companies, its just not right, to me its like rapeing the car. Well thats just my own opinion. GL with that car.
The owner had a turbo celica swap in the car before, but wasnt happy with the power (around 250) He wanted us to build him a car for "American Togue 3" coming later this year. He entered last year but did not place in the top 8.
