maybe your tires are REALLY grippy or your clutch is starting to slip...i have no problem spinning mine in my N/A...if you have a turbo i can't see why you can't...if i rev to about 5k and pop clutch i can do a decent one...my tread is a little worn though...

At the track i heel/toe brake and gas to get my revs up to like 4500 then dump the clutch.

Seems to work for me, but the 245s out back it is much more difficult to get one going while not on wet tarmac...

Have you tried dumping it from second gear?

I would no dump your clutch in second gear unless you have a LOT of power or are interested in breaking something.

It is hard to burnout in the MR2 because it has such wonderful traction!
This is a good thing. Burning out is breaking traction which is why it is so easy to do in a FWD car.

If you are using a drag radial or slick and need to do a proper burnout, I highly recommend purchasing a line lock. This will make your life a lot easier. If you are not on those tires, there is no reason to be burning out.

The 'other reasons' are not performance reasons.
I understand them, but I would never beat on an $1800 transmission, $XXX clutch while wearing out tires that cost $XXXX.

But that's just me

While I wouldn't exactly agree with him on the price of MR2 NA tranny's (just threw out 2)
Hyde is right, dont abuse your car. If you want to do burnouts get a mustang.
