88 MR2 for 1000$

so as i got back to the shop today after picking up parts, one of the guys from the junkyard we deal with was there. he traded some parts for an 88 MR2, in mint shape (i looked at it) aside from a blown engine....

so he was asking my boss if he knew anyone who might be interested as i was coming in, and right away the boss pointed to me because i have a 3sgte sitting around in my garage.

so what i need to know, is if the 3s will fit this thing without too much trouble, meaning i could have it running in a couple weeks

ok, fine, so i did some research. custom mounts needed, needs a bit cut out around it to make room. drive shafts for a celica alltrac, relocate the alternator. thats what i've gathered so far....im not the prize mechanic, so ima go over the docs i found with my boss.

but from what i've read its getting the car, and the 3s engine that are the most expensive, i already have the engine and tranny for it, and the turbo and intercooler

$1000 for an mk1 (perfect or not) with a non running motor is too high

did i mention canadian? and besides, where else in my area am i gonna find one? i could buy one from somewhere else and have it shipped, but it'd probly come out more expensive that way.

either way, been looking at the work involved, its not that much, but my boss will run me an arm and a leg for "shop supplies". its a project anyway, i couldnt get it on the road for under 2000$ or inside a month. i already have a project car, and i cant afford another, as much as i want it. i have too much time/money invested in the other to just scrap it.

ill have another chance some day, but for now im gonna go home and cry when i get off work and realize again its out of my reach

well, i got my tercel sold for 800, so ima offer 900 on this beast which includes the 100 for the rims on it, cuz they belong to someone else. and i found a 4AGE to replace the one in it, so that'll save me some work, as much as i'd like to put the 3SGTE in, i cant afford another project, so ima go back to trying to sell it, if i cud get 600 for it plus shipping, its all i need, i spent enough on it, in august, i've gotten by without that money long enough, i dont really miss it

so i bought it, for 800 bills with the tires. i need a 4AGZE block now, soon, my tercel is sold, and going, so i need this thing running soon. i've found some on ebay, id like to keep it under 600....tis all the magic mastercard will allow at the moment

like this, but its work...
http://cgi.ebay.com/4agze-block-rods...QQcmdZViewItem

then theres this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AE86-...spagenameZWD1V

not too sure on this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-T...spagenameZWDVW

but if ima spend that, i might as well try and supercharge this
http://cgi.ebay.com/CLEAN-AND-RARE-4...QQcmdZViewItem

i put in a request with standard auto wreckers near toronto, and ima try tiger japan in TO as well, dealt with them before. i also tried a place called vtec in nova scotia, they had a good 4AGE for 485$ shipped, but i tried calling those guys for info on a 4agze, and well, i wont even talk to them again, they know nothing on customer service, so they can put they're cheap prices and shipping where the sun wont shine

1. no.... i wouldn't... shipping costs wouldn't be worth it
2. no, too much
3. most likely. too bad it's not the one depicted... that one is already modded
4. supercharging a blacktop is a bad idea
