Question sw20 running very rich and stalls

So i recently had some engine work done on the long block (jdm 3sgte). I dropped it back in and think hooked everything up...

It's now running very rich and can't figure out why.
Here is a list of current complications.

- starts and runs while giving it gas.
- idles very rough then stalls after a few seconds.
- ran the car several times for about a min each time. spark plugs are now black!
- tested the air flow sensor. metered at 640ohms. recomended is 200-600ohms. could this be the problem? I think that's the same resistance it was before i had the engine work done, so i'm not to sure this is the main problem.

Any ideas??!?!?!?!?

Thanks!

It sounds like you have a healthy leak somewhere in your intake system.

When your AFM was taken on and off the car, I hope no one undid the 2 little screws next to the wiring harness. They do NOT hold the wires onto the AFM. They hold pieces on the INSIDE together. There is a thin C-clip around the wiring harness - that is the correct way to take it off. If those 2 screws were undone, your AFM was damaged.

Since you're absolutely sure it's not the AFM or any induction leak before the throttle plate, then check for any large manifold vac leak( brake booster hose, IAC, a/c, plugged port behind intake manifold.) since it can't idle but stays running w/ the throttle open. Either that or theres something mechanically wrong w/ the fuel system causing high fp or a grounded injector.

I'm using the stock bov.

I've looked all over the damn place for a missing hose or something and can't find anything... grrrrrrr.... at the same time if it was a vacuum leak wouldn't it lean it out? and if it was that big of a vacuum leak i would think i would hear it! i don't know! guess i could be wrong...

i had a similar problem...it turns out one of the grounds that was connected to the engine block was left disconnected...you should check to make sure all grounds are properly hooked up

I too had a similar problem running very rich, hesitation, poor gas mileage, black plugs and even soot coming out of both tail pipes. At first I thought intake leak. but couldnt find one. then i thought fuel pressure regulator was uncalibrated, but it too checked out.so I took it to my Import Tech friends and it ended up being the O2 sensor. the bolts had come loose and the O2 sensor popped off.I replaced the bolts, but didn't realize that the gasket had come off. so there was a slight leak there. The sensor was covered in soot also. They replaced it and all the symptoms are gone. runs great again..

so i figured out what was going on with my mister2 today!

1. my cousin put the throttle body on. (figured it was easy and he couldn't do any harm) LOL
2. the gasket was leaking
3. the gasket was put on wrong and was blocking the passage for the ISC Valve
4. the seals in my turbo are shot (blowing oil)
5. one of the hoses coming from the turbo vsv valve had a small crack
6. the jackass who rebuilt my head never put new cam seals in (noticed today they were leaking)

** if you want an awesome way to check vacuum leaks, find a mechanic that has a smoke machine(no not the ones you find in clubs)
