ct-26 fails??

Well i took my mr2 to the shop the other day to have them install the manifold and when he started to remove the bolts because the block is aluminum and the studs are steel the threads had like started to fuse to the block or something like that and he wouldn't continue working on my car because he couldn't guarantee the work so i told him to put the stock manifold back on. So that sucks..... And he also thinks my turbo is blown because its not boosting properly but it could be the boost controller so i am going to take it off and see what happens when i run stock boost. If it is still spools at 5500 then im calling ATS racing. and getting the ct27.. I never thought i'd say this but for once im sick of my car

What year is your car? I just did my exhaust manifold, it was a pain in the ass, but it's done now and seems to be fine. And my turbo was boosting funny also, but it was because I had a vacume line with a tear in it, so I'd check that before just replacing the turbo.

It's common that one (or more) of those studs will break.
If it broke, you just have to drill it out and tap the head (not the block!)
What manifold you are putting in?
Depending on your goal, the stock one flows pretty good.

For the turbo, check the shaft play first.
CT26 allowance:
axial play 0.13 mm (0.0051") or less
Radial play 0.18 mm (0.0071") or less
Note that radial play must be measured at the center of the shaft, through the hole in the spacer bearing

Is your car throwing out white smoke from the tail pipe?. It could also be your gasket. It also sounds like you have a exhaust leak. The CT26 is a samll turbo ansd it spools up perrty quick.

I was going to suggest an exhaust leak also... considering your mechanic began taking bolts off the manifold, then decided not to continue.

No i don't think its an exhaust leak but i'll check and it was doing the boost thing before i took it to the shop. But i talked to this guy and he said that he was pretty sure the wastegate is stuck open so it would be like trying to fill a sink with the drain out of it. and no there is not white smoke.........
