Fuel cut??

So here's the deal;
It boosts to about 6 or 7psi and then it feels like someone slammed on the brakes and the check engine light comes on! Then the light goes off and if I step on it, it feels kind of like it's flooding itself(doggy), and as soon as it starts to boost again it does the same thing! Could this possibly be the O2 sensor? Or if the vacume line to the MBC is pinched would this happen? Or a loose clamp on the intercooler piping?

If it were a fuel cut, i believe pre-programmed from the manufacturer with a ct26 the fuel cut was at 12-12.5psi and the CEL would come on. And to reset it you would have to disconnect your battery then hook it back up to clear it and revert it back to normal.

the same thing happened when i installed my EBC... it was either fuel cut, or AVCR tuning (im not sure as i did both at the same time)

If you have a manual BC, then it is your fuel cut... ace hardware FTW!

It doesnt really matter what the boost was set at because i was just getting out of vacuum when my car bogged and the check engine light came on. (i beleive it was set at .8 bar for tuning/testing)

As stated above, i didnt have fuel cut in my initial tuning (an oversight)

What is FTW? Do you still think it would still fuel cut even if I disconnected the MBC? How hard is it to install a fuel cut defenser?

Fuel cut happens at 12 psi on the 91/92 mr2s and 16 psi on the 93+ mr2s.
If you hit fuel cut ONCE, you will keep hiting it at ANY positive pressure until you turn the car off and back on.

But I never even made it to 12psi...I barely hit 7! Any idea what could cause this?

How are you measuring boost?
Do you have an accurate gauge?
Where is it taking it's reading from?

I have an aftermarket boost gauge and its tied into one of the lines that runs off the intake manifold(turbo intake side).

It sounds to me like you are absolutely hitting fuel cut. This issue would have nothing to do with your O2 sensor as the O2 sensor only affects things at idle and cruise, not under significant throttle.

I would be skeptical of your boost gauge or it's install. If the line to that is pinched, it may not be reading accurately.

Does it read vacuum? If so, what's it read at idle?

Yes it reads about 23. I think, I only worked on it yesterday. What vacume line(s) should be going from the bov and where? Does having a MBC change these?

You should not be playing with the vac lines on the BPV at all.
Having a MBC does not change the fuel cut set point.
You vac sounds good.

To see the OEM vac lines, see here:

FTW = for the win... sorry. As Jeff said, once ou hit fuel cut once it continues to do so at any positive pressure. The installation for my FCD (from Ace hardware) took about 20 minutes in the dark... its easy, jsut search the board for the different ways to do it.

Thanks.
The only reason I asked is because in most of the pictures I've seen; people with aftermarket BOVs only have one line from it and the VTV valve isn't there...Why would people do this?
