2nd Generation turbo engine swap in CA

Hey guys I was thinking about doing the turbo swap on my 91 mr2 but i have questions still unanswered in my head....I live in CA and we have to smog our cars every two years or so....i was wondering is my car going to pass smog with jdm motor? US motor? Does anybody know how i get it all legalized here in CA. I know you have to go to a DMV referee or something to get it legalized. So anyone been through the process of swapping the motor and getting it legalized in CA. I just want to know how the whole process goes....thanks

You might want to ask this question in the Kalifornia () regional forums on mr2oc.com or mr2board.com.

Really all you have to do is make sure the cats are in tact and add an EGR system. It has been done... but it's kinda a pain in the ass. Eaiser just to pay off a smog guy.
