85 MR2 help

I bought an 85 MR2 the engine is GONE it smokes wines and makes other deadly sounds from down low. at this point would it be better to put a different engine in if so what one and what would it take to do the swap. I want the best platform for this becasue i want to build another nice yota to beat on these kids and their Hondas down here in FL.

Thanks JP

i'd hardly say that making the Mk1.5 is a "drop in".

plus the Original Mk1.5 is now putting-down 338.something plus to the wheels...

YEAH.. the UPS guy dropped off my "New" starter last night. I got it installed today and the car started on it own. Now i just need to get the whole smoking thing worked out. The smoke was white like a new pair of socks. funny smell two was not oil, wasn't coolant, not sure what it is. It has my two roommates as well as a few neighbors wondering what it could be. When i pulled the plug wires off of cylinders one at a time the #2 cylinder seemed to have less of an impact on the idle than the rest of the cyl. I am going to drain the gas tom. it smells kinda bad going to put two gallons of fresh 89 oct. in it and see what it does. no funny noices no knocks or squells nothing funny. Just smoke.. any ideas. thanks JP
