Water injection is a wonderful idea. I've been running it for years and would not do without it.
You don't want it in the throttle body though. You want it after the intercooler and as far away from the throttleb ody as you can get.

J&H is correct.
It should be after the IC and far away from the TB as much as possible.
This will give more time for the water to vaporize.
The vaporization will remove heat from the charged air.

I don;t care what I say ro what the seller says, I care about what the manufacturer of the water injection systems says. Go to Aquamist's Web site and read for your self.

Just so I am clear, it needs to be AFTER the IC.
You do not want the water shooting into the IC.

Sorry, but that is incorrect. You want it as far from the TB as possible so the water has the maximum time to disperse. If you put it to close to the TB, the water will not be as evenly distributed throughout the air stream.

You do not want the water to vaporize before it gets to the engine. You want the combustion process to force the water into a gaseos state so that it absorbs the heat inside the engine.

I was rolling this around in my head also...

But doesnt the added water take up a certain % of the volume of your intake air, and need to be accounted for by the computer?

Or it that the water cools the air, making it more dense, and accounts for the volume the water occupies (at lease pert of it)?

Or is the difference in volume so small it can be overlooked?

compresion

i guess it can also rise your compresion a little bit, but no a significant number, because the water CANOT be compresed, therefor, a cc of water takes 8.5cc of air. (Relation of compretion)

tamalpro, correct water can't be compressed which is why it affectively raises the octane of your fuel. Remember, high octane is a higher resistance to combustsion. It's like having race gas in the car all the time

DRifting Dane, we are talking about a very tiny amount of water - it's actual volumn is negligible.

Do you know where I can get intructions on DIY water injections? or should I bring it in to a mod shop? So far all I have is a 2L tank and hoses.

I bought the aquamist system when I did it.

If you contact Joeo on MR2OC.com, he makes a much more affordable kit.
He might be able to answer your questions. Tell him I sent you.
