my gen 1 engine was running fine, then 20 minutes of heavy spark knock under all but the lightest load, then the engine died and won't start---engine still turns over. replaced coil but still no spark out of the primary lead to the distributor. I'm thinking it's likely the iginiter, but wondered if the knock symptoms might indicate something else like ECU?

Replaced the igniter/coil assembly--- still not starting. Am I correct in thinking it is more likely to be the ECU than the pickup coils of the distributor? I'm not getting any spark coming out of the coil. Any help is greatly appreciated---thanks, mktunes
