91 horn is haunted

I have a 91 I just picked up and the horn/haz didnt work. Sure enough - no fuse!
so I put the fuse in and then listend to the horn sounding whenever it felt like it.

Get in the car -it blows
put the key in the ign - it blows
turn the corner -it blows

However when trying to hit the horn when needed..most of the time it fails.
Sometimes just breathing on the steering wheel is all it takes to get it to go!

So, I presume the horn switch within the steering wheel is bad. How hard is this to replace and has anyone done it -or- have the part number(s)?

thanks!

PS for now, the fuse is OUT

You might want to check the horn relay. That circuit should only be closing when you hit the button on the wheel.

Well I would agree...but based on how touchy the steering wheel is and is not, I have to think its within there.

Someone on here must have dealt with that before I am hoping

ok guys. I took off the airbag and found the 2 horn contacts.
they appear to be held in place by 2 T30 bolts on each side.
The top 2 bolts were almost ready to fall out
The bottom 2 bolts were snug as I would expect.
So...I was wondering if anyone knows if all (4) bolts should be the same..snugged and bottomed out. When they are, the contacts are not touching and things seem to work (untested at this time).

Although I think I found an issue, I cant imagine this actually causing my issue?

Doesnt hurt to try, unless you screw up with the airbag and break your nose.

I am behind a firewall and unfortunately can't look it up for you but you should be able to find the answer to your question in the BGB.
