91 dashboard/defroster area

I just noticed something odd on my new 91.
The dashboard around the top 2 defroster slits has separated away from the vents on the inner side (not the side that touches the windshield).

I can press it down and it will easily go back into place, but it wont stay. It looks like there is some glue or something that either was from the factory -or- someone added (but done very nicely) and it has weakend and separated.

this car was in Florida almost it's entire life, so I have to think that its from the intense sun.

I stopped by my local Toy dealer and he told me this is not that uncommon - but told me he was not interested in fixing it as it likely would pop back once the sun baked on it again.

It's not under pressure or warped or anything...just that the adhesive that was holding it in place has weakened.

Anyone experience this? - fixes?

a new dash is $$$ and of course a PITA to swap out.

Is it just the vinyl that's coming loose or is it actually the whole thing warping?

the green vinyl is comeing loose from the plastic defroster. It does not appear warped...and I can press it right back down into shape.

Just dont know how to secure it much less get in there to do it. If the windshield needed replacing, I would do this at that time.. But not...

I wouldn't go through the dealer to fix that, they'd charge you an arm and a leg even if they would do it.

Talk to some body shops about vinyl repair. If they don't do it themselves they can probably recommend someone to you.
