i have seen the scoop and sleepy eyes on tom's but can not find the site again. the scoop will bring in more air for the engine bay. what is MEGASQUIRT???
I think that the scoop is worse then non-functional. The engine bay is designed to have air flow from the sides and bottom up through the engine lid, the scoops would work counter to that.
The one exception I've seen to this was someone ran ducting directly from the scoop into a sealed airbox for the intake. Even then it didn't do much and looked

there is one "scoop" kit for the mr2's.... but it isn't for a daily driver... and i've only seen it once.... basically it replaces the stock hood with a reverse ducted hood (downwards) and then you must cut the frunk open.... it allows air to pass from under the car over the car... it only helps with 100+mph downforce....
megasquirt is a stand alone ECU KIT that you build.... aka, a cheap DIY

instead of forking out the money for an s/c ecu can i convert my na ecu cheaper using megasquirt. i have been in contact with megasquirt this is what they told me...
The ECU that I would recommend for your application is the MegaSquirt
I v3.0 with MegaSquirt-n-Spark_Extra firmware. It is $189 in kit
form or $329 assembled. I also recommend the MegaSquirt Stimulator,
as it aids assembly and testing. It provides simulated sensors and
tach signal to drive the ECU out of the car. Depending on how
comfortable you are with wiring, I might recommend the Relay board as
well. This provides a single point under the hood for connecting
your wiring. It is most useful when you don't have a factory harness
to adapt.
Oh boy. Too many questions. Try searching the board for 'megasquirt'. It's not a plug in and use deal...
The scoop he means is the one on the side of the car. Yes it does mess up the flow of air in the back, so it is actually detrimental to the aerodynamics of the car. Not worth it IMHO. Far as I know, Tom's doesn't make them anymore. There are imitations, but last time I looked you could expect to pay about $300 for one.
