We entered Hyde in event #3 for the NEPA SCCA on Sunday. We also brought Jekyl out for two other MR2OCers to race. Mark Shellhamer raced Jekyl in CSP taking 2nd and Kevin tulay (Kupop on MR2OC) raced Jekyl in SM2 taking 3rd place. Todd Treat (forget his board name) was also there racing his 91T in BS (IIRC). Dennis Rothmel (Kappa on MR2OC) raced his 91T in ASP (his first autocross!).
This course was long and narrow. We basically slalomed to one end of the courses, 180'ed and slalomed back and then did another lap.
The Noble we beat at the last event came back to take out a piece of Hyde and he was quite succesful! We had 3 runs in the morning and 4 in the afternoon.
My first run of hte day, which I usually just take 'spunky,' netted a 41.17 and the Noble's last run of the morning was a 41.14 giving him a 3 hundredths lead. I never bettered in the afternoon and the Noble ran at least two 40s (but hit cones). I'm not sure how he did on the last 2 runs, but the win was his. Kupop managed a 43.7 (IIRC) in Jekyl.
Hyde was incredibly consistent with all seven runs in the 41s and no cones.
This was Hyde's first autox loss in a year-and-half, but life happens.
That noble is awesome to watch. It
really has a lot of low-end grunt.
I suspect we will be meeting up again this coming Sunday for a tie-breaker :evillaugh
I have two videos to share
(thanks Chase Cams!). In the first video, the Chase Cam was mounted on the T-bar. In the other, it is mounted near the p-side door handle.
The roof-mounted video was a 41.2 (my second quickest lap). I know I was slow on the 180s as I went in too hot and pushed out.
Video #1 and
Video #2
We got some good photographs as well.
Thanks to Mark and Dennis (Kappa) for taking photos!
