auto to manual conversion

looking for a new sw20 and all I seem to find in my price range is autos. found a really nice white hardtop on craigslist for 2 grand. has anybody converted their auto to manual and know exactly what that entails? please inform. thanks!

to add to the above. I already have a 3sgte pulled out of a 93 with all wiring but it has a cracked transmission housing.

In the end, all kinds of swaps (auto to manual, turbo to non turbo) are going to cost more than the original counterpart.

not necessarily. I bought a salvaged mr2 and pulled the motor and wiring, parted the rest of the car and got my original investment back. I have the clutch slave cyl, have the shifter cables have the rear suspension with hubs and axles. I shouldn't have sold the shifter and left the pedals in the car but I still have lots of parts left to sell or trade. if I could get a list of other parts needed and get the car for 2 grand, minus labor which is my time, a turbo mr2 5speed would cost me 2 grand and it would be the hardtop that I want.

well thank yee gairloch. much appreciated, i will attempt this while swapping motors. hardtop autos are so easy to find. not to mention cheaper.
