I own a MKll N/A and i am going to swap and engine into it but what engine shoulod i put in? So i am just wondering which engine can i put in my MKll that would give me the most horsepower after mods? Thank you for your help
Oya i wanted to know where do i find the low rise light conversion for my car that has the high beam low beam light conversion?
3rd gen jdm 3sgte is a good way to go though. i don't know if you would want more than 300-350 hp for your dd though. it also depends on what you want to do for the car.
Ya im basicaly looking for a allaround driver. But not meaning i dont want the horse power i want to put more that 350 horse in this car over time, my plans or i should say goals for her are the track, drift (although right now i can get is side ways and keep it side ways pretty good) and an allaround driver i dont got the money to be driving 2 cars at one time.
I have a 91 3gsgte engine and tranny for sale. This is probably the engine you want to mod up on. Don't do it on the Gen3's. Thats why I bought a Gen3 and am selling the Gen2. I want a street drivable car that will take out some cars on the highway.
Gen 3 is the best overall engine. Gives you most power for any mod you put on it, over 300 hp with just I,Ex, BC, I/C.
Depending on how good a shape your car is in and how much cash you have, I'm considering trading my nicely modded black gen 3 for a n/a & cash. email if interested. (especially looking for a white one)
third gen 3sgte after some time and money on mods you can get up to..... well look at hyde for example,
Hyde does not and would not have a 3rd gen 3SGTE.
It's the good ole 2nd gen that came in the car.

If your only requirement is maximum power, why not just stick a jet engine it and be done?
Seriously, my point is if your only goal is absolute maximum power, why have an MR2?
There are many cars that will get you to over 1000 rwhp easily.
What do you want the car for?
What do you want the power for?
Where do you want the power?
All power is not created equal, even at the same HP number.

... and in his quest for "max power" he might find that the Gen3's block is more likely to crack than the Gen2s.

The reason why i want the car or have the car is, it is and has been my dream car since i can remember and it is jus a amazing machine.
The reason why i want the power is to pull around a 12 or 13 in the 1/4 mile but also drive it on the road and meet up w/ my car club avery week. O ya also i am praying to enter it into car shows with in next summer.
I dont know if i have already posted this but i just bought the car like 2 monthes ago and the body is in realy good condition except the back bumper it is oxidising alittle bit. The interior is in mint condition, the seats are brand new stock toyota mr2 seats and the carpet, dash and everything else is in mint condition.
Okay, now that we have an idea of your goals and desires, it is much simpler to help you.
If your goal is 12s, you do not need "max crazy hp."
Basic bolt-ons to the turbo engine will get you into the 12s.
You can get into the 13s with just a boost controller, intake and exhaust on the turbo engine.
the car runs almost 13's as is btw that will beat most the cars in your area i have a mr2 with stand alone ecu, apexi exhaust with 3" pipes and 3' downpipe, and i got the turbo rebuilt and board out a lil bit and it demolishes almost anything in my chicagoland area(still no idea what i run yet)
remember to bear in mind emissions. how strict are the laws in your area? if u go with a usdm gen 2 it should pass pretty easily. a gen 3 is going to be tough. also some parts on the gen 3 will not be as simple as walking into your local toyota dealership.
that being said i kinda wish i went gen 3 on my swap. i have simliar goals (high 12/low 13) and by the time i am done modifying my gen 2 i will pretty much have a gen 3 but will have spent more. you only need around 250-260 whp for those goals.
a reliable 350whp on a DAILY driver is going to cost $$.
I can't speak from experience but wouldn't a gen 3 with BPU+ and just a slightly larger turbo yield 350 whp? Seems maybe more...
Anyway, once you hit 300 HP, your gain per HP goes south. Compare mr2's, @290whp you can pull mid-high 12's on street tires. @500+ whp I've seen, what, 11's???? Seems only good for braggin' rights to me. (some people need that I guess)
Kinda like the Supra guys that go with large, single turbos and pull 600hp easy. Their new 0-60? I've seen 6+ seconds, that's downright embarrassing. Imagine driving a 500+HP car and getting beat by a civic, *shoots himself*
