Exclamation Worn valve seals?

I think my valve seals are worn because when I turn my car on after a period of time white smoke will come out and my oil seems to be always low and have to get filling it up. I was just wondering if this sounds like what the problem is and how hard would it be to fix yourself..... Thanks

VERY normal for the 5SFE. My 91 had 118,xxx on the dial and would smoke for 15-20 seconds after started and at least 5 seconds after parked for over 30 minutes.

It's one of those problems that costs $10 to fix but a PITA to do. You either have to be good and do it with the head on or pull the head to do it properly. Personally, I wouldn't bother unless it gets so bad that when you stop too long at a red light it starts to smoke. (which mine never got that bad)
