What do you think?

New to this forum and the MR2 world. I've loved (and wanted) MR2's for a very long time, but could never justify the relatively impracticallity of the car. I'm now to the point where I don't care anymore, have the cash, and am going to get one.

With that little intro out of the way, what do you guys think of this MR2 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyot...QQcmdZViewItem

Looking at the car... I would have said go for it. Then I started to read through it... and realized that literacy isn't this guys strong point.... which means it's probably a punk ass kid (like myself) who railed on the car. Chassis has a lot of miles.... price is fair. How do you plan on smogging this car in our beautiful state of California?

Seller has this in the description - "I just passed smog about 3 months ago."

How long is a smog cert good for? 2mo? I can't remember. I'm glad I'm not the only person who judges a seller based on his spelling.

^ Smog is only good if it is less than two months. And there is no way he passed visual inspectoin with a JDM engine... it just doesn't happen. I guess the seller is legally responsible for smog... even though people don't usually do it. Make him smog it again... just know that in the future it will probably cost you a couple bills to get it done.

Its really easy to pass smog (illegally) Go to a hole in the wall place and give the guy an extra $25 on top of whatever the fee is. Works every time.

That's unfortunate. It looks like I'll still be without an MR2. These things are impossible to find.

You have got to be patient man! Everyone seems to jump on the 1st 2 they see, including me. It actually took me years to find one I was happy with. You see, MR2's have a higher rate of having been wrecked and a 2 that's been wrecked in the front is HARD to get right again, It causes problems with the fitment. The first place I look on a 2 is how the panels fit (bumper, hood, lamps, bumper sometimes stretched to fenders, doors) and also rear fender wells for rust. (also around windshield and lower doors)

I was also willing to travel ANYWHERE. NY for my second and ATL for my 3rd. Almost picked up a sweety in Las Vegas. That was before the great gas depression though. But we can't complain, I feel bad that the oil companies are only making record billion dollar PROFITS, gosh if I could 'help' them out in person.
