The one you have should not need anything done to it.

Most aftermekt BOVs are based on a spring design and it is possible that the spring tension would need to be adjusted.

because the sound i wanted was the butterfly or double chirp sound. im only getting that when i dont really get on the car. i would say around 3500 rpms and down it happens. is there a way that i can have it do it all the time.

theres a little spring on the back of it you`ll have to use a pliers and adjust it but if u dont adjust the spring right the car might stall every time u boost the car!

I know exactly what you're talking about, same reason I bought mine. The bad news is NO, you can't have that sound with a stock turbo set-up. And yes, you do have to adjust the spring pressure, I believe most stock 2's are like mine and end up being tightened most of the way down.

I've been told that the 'flutter' that sounds so cool is actually not a good thing. I've only noticed it on my ride when it was really cold out... A local friend of mine is running the HKS SSQ and gets the flutter every time on his RB20, bastard.

so then there is no chance to get that sound all the time. and why is it bad for the car if it does do the chirp sound?

this butterfly effect or double churp u speak of does not just come from the BOV. this sound u want to accomplish is the sound of the turbo compressor surging. which is one of the purposes a bov is made to relieve from happening. this happens when your adjustment on the bov is too stiff for the current boost pressure so it does not release air properly.

i think your best bet of getting this sound is to recurculate a blitz BOV. but remember nuthin is really as good as the oem BPV or the SSQV II recurculated wont hurt.

I've noticed on my car the sound has a lot to do with the amount of boost being ran. When I'm on low boost... the blow off sound isn't too loud... when I'm running higher boost.... DAMN. I'm running a stock bpv recirculated.... still makes a good amount of noise.

I involuntarily managed to test a bunch of bovs and the ssq is probably the best that I know of for variable functionality and picky ecu's. Im not a huge fan of the noise but dont really have the option of a recirc.

blitz-leaks over 18psi unless you tighten the shit out of it then you get that cool flutter sound but thats bad
apexi-annoying and car stalled, unable to set for my application (uncirc)
turbosmart-excellent
turboxs-stuck after 2 weeks

I say stick with the HKS but set it to be functional, who cares about the noise

The best sound is the compressor surging. This is best accomplished if you run a straight pipe with no BOV.
But dont do it, your turbo will only last about 2 weeks

I've been running mine for over 2 years now. but everybodies engine is different. I haven't had any real problems...though I think it's responsible for the ocassional backfire...
