Chico Raceworks-powered Hyde claims his 4th win of the year,
but it was a rather hollow victory. It rained almost the entire weekend
which kept a lot of competitors away so no one else ran SM2.
Mark Childs in his Champange-colored 85 MR2 won SSC against 5 other competitors and 73-year-old Alvey Ford won SSA in his 88 supercharged MR2. Alvey was also unopposed.
Saturday morning, the road was wet but nothing was falling from the sky so I took one run since I was there to at least post a time up. I was 23 seconds behind the 59-second record I set last year. As the day progressed, the track dried a lit bit everyone run and I got into the 70s and then finally a 69 and a 65 on my last run.
It was one of my worst placings overall, but Hyde was very nervous in the wet and I had every intention of keeping the bodywork in place so I kept it safe.
Sunday was a total wash and I only made it 5 miles from house before I decided it was not worth risking. The weather did not clear until an hour after the hillclimb was closed for the day
Raul O'Brien took some videos of all of the MR2s.
