So im buying this MR2...

I'm tempted to buy this '91 MR2 turbo next week. The guy wants $5900 for it. The owner is an older guy. He takes extremely good care of it. I guess he pays like $40 a month on insurance for the car, hence no speeding tickets that point to a molested car... The car has 118k on it, it has no rust, new tires, interior is immaculate, everything is stock, no scratches or dings on body, no leaks period. I took it for a test drive, and the clutch is strong, turbo spools great, and the car pulls hard with no pinging and/or ticking noise. I'm gonna try and offer him $5700 cash money for it.
Since I am new to MR2's, I thought that I might get an oppinion from the guys who know more than me about these great cars. What do you guys think about it? Is it a steal ? Or is it a rip ?

Thanks in advance! -Ian

Excellent deal. Sounds like you know what to look for, go for it! Just take your time getting use to the mid engine turbo layout or it will bite!

I agree with the others, sounds like good deal. those miles are low considering it's 15 yrs old. Post pics after you get it.

OK, there she is...looks clean and taken care of from this pic. Is that "Aqua Green"? You don't see that color much .. and the hard tops are rare and sought after because of their lighter weight and rigidity. Supposedly less body flex.
The price is alittle higher than the Kelly BlueBook value, but these cars are getting rarer all the time.I'd go for it too..
Post more pics of the inside and engine bay after you pic it up. Maybe you'll get lucky and Doc J&H will take a look at it and critique it. the guys' got a sharp eye for these things and can tell you much...Congrats.

I would say that is a keeper! through my buddies experince in buying a turbo from an older guy origanle owner as well the motor does have to be run on a little to clean the motor out! fist run your injector cleaner, the cap rotor and all (i know you know this) but somtimes those old farts do use the pedal so you dont get robbed of anything through your motor i would clean it out as best you could!
