Quick question...

After two weeks of getting the wrong part for the sending unit for my temp gauge, I just bought a complete electric gauge. It came with fitting adaptors and everything to hook it up. I finally know that my car is not overheating, which is nice. Plus the gauge looks pretty sweet.

Here's my question. Does the 5s-fe have a different sender for gauge and computer, or is it all in one sender. It looks like there are 2 different ones pretty close together, but the guy at the dealership said the one that was broken on mine is for the EFI computer. As far as I can tell, the car runs awesome. He said it would run really rich if the computer didn't know how hot it was. The one with the gauge goes directly to the gauge, so it isn't influencing the computer at all. It's second from the driver's side. Am I okay with this, or what?

Also, it's running at about 210 degrees, is that normal? It hasn't gone above that, but I was thinking that seems a little high. Thanks for any help!

Andy.

This info is for a Camry 5SFE. Of the two sensors, the one with two wires is for the ECU. Pretty positive the sensor with one wire is for the coolant gage. If you have the service info, both gages can be tested.

The electric fan kicks on at 199F, but this temp sensor is located on the radiator, which could be cooler. Does this car have an electric fan, and does it work?

If it has a fan on the radiator, I can't hear it working. I don't know for sure if it does or not.
