Well the time has come, I'm getting new car. So now I'm trying to decide what to do with '88 MR2. It has 172,500 miles, a ding in the left rear corner (bent metal, but no significant damage). The options I'm looking at, are striping the inside and going either ice racing (more likely) or Regional club racing. The other option Im thinking of, is selling it, but not sure if worth much. What you guys think I should do with it?
With regards to the new car, I'd like to get another Toyota, but running into problems. I'm looking for a four-door car that has some pep and is fun to drive through twisty roads. The Corolla XRS seems to fit the bill, but can't find one here in Toronto GTA area to test drive, check out. Is the Matrix XRS a decent alternative.? Apart from Toyota, looking at Mitsibushi Lancer Ralliart, VW Jetta 2.0 Turbo and Ford Focus ZX4 ST.
Stay away from eveything but the Corolla. The Matrix is lousy AND ugly (Trust me, a buddy of mine drives a Wagon and he regrets it.) Mitsubishi isn't exactly gret, VW is expensive to repair and Jettas have no good record, and the Ford Fuckus is just an awful, awful little car.
As to the MR2, why not keep it? Always good to have a backup car around and something fun for the summer days. You can have your car in the shop and not worry, you can loan it out and still drive around, all sort of good reasons to have two cars.

if you can drive well the scion xB is surprisingly quick.... a good friend of mine (who is a good/crazy driver) kept up with me when I was in my gze mr2 on a twisty road..... (his was modified, with traction control, big/wide tires and I was on shitty tires)....
and there isn't a 2.0 turbo... it's either 2.0 n/a or 1.8T.... either way, VW's suck

Yes but you have to drive around in a toaster with wheels. Seriosly, I LIKE blocky, geometric cars (I drive an MR2 fer cry ee eye!) but the xB just... it's not blocky, it IS a block with little tiny wheels. Buy a REAL Toyota if you want a Toyota. Just becaues it's made by Toyota doesn't make it automatic gold.

i hated them too... until my old roommate got the first one in town..... then started to modify it... and then another mr2 owner in town bought a 'show' version of one (and wanting to do a 4ag swap)..... they grow on ya

I very rarely "warm up" to cars. If I don't like it from the outset I never like it. Ocasionally I'll warm up to a car but it's very rare. I just think the xB's wheels look weird in comparison with its body size; which makes it look like they were trying to do the most with the least, and it ended up looking like an airport luggage tug with a full body.
