1991 Mr2 Turbo Swap

Okay well I guess i'll start by introducing myself, well my names Nick and I have a Chevy Cobalt SS/SC but i've signed up here because i have some questions about Mr2's because my brother is about to do an engine swap on his 1991 mr2 n/a.

Well we ordered a JDM engine and when it got here all it was, was an engine no Intercooler or anything not sure that it even has a wiring harness.

So my questions are if I use the JDM engine, what are the parts that i'm going to need to make it a direct bolt on procedure(ie. motor mounts, intercooler, piping etc...)

Also would I be better off not using the engine at all? and purchasing like a complete "rear clip"?

and since we are seriously considering purchasing another clip and or engine, could someone possibly point me in the right direction to finding either the parts we need, or a company ,preferably in the US, that could sell us these parts or engine.

Also what is the name of the engine in the 1991 turbo Mr2's?

Sorry for all the ?'s fellas but we kinda jumped the gun and are now having to do the research, but thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Thumbs up

well heres the answers to most off your questions

the name of the engine is 3SGTE and the vehicle chassie code is SW20

yes i would get an engine clip cuz you get every thing you need

to bad your in florida subzero motors in california is great to get a clip from

if you just go the engine i recomend the a turbo mr2s transmission you will need the intercooler wiring harness JDM ecu/computer turbo mr2 motor mounts and a boost gauge of course then a 255lpg fuel pump walbro is recomended but u can use a turbo mr2s,supras, or turbo celicas i might have missed something so might not be all ohh turbo axles to handle the stress have fun

ohh and i would pop on over to the best mr2 site on the net it is twobrutal

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk

Your best bet is to get a half cut... and pick the parts out yourself. It may be a pain to have half of a car sitting around... but it makes life a lot easier. A lot of time in clips some of the parts you need are missing or chopped in half. For MR2's... keep an eye out for.... AFM, MAF, intercooler, axles, wiring harness (uncut), exhaust... etc. You might want to wait until you get what you ordered and see what is missing.
