1986 AW-11 fuel leakage problem?

Hi everyone, just after a few opinions

My gf just bought herself a 1986 super-charged MR2 AW-11 (so proud) but she seems to chew threw fuel like there is no tomorrow. I know that the super-charger will eat up the fuel alot more than a non super, but this is crazy.

I was driving it last night and I could see the fuel gauge going down!! We went through 1/4 tank in a 15 min drive.

I can't see any leakage, so I am wondering what could I could attribute this too. I am thinking the fuel gauge maybe busted?? Any tips or advise for how I could get to the bottom of this?

Thanks
Chris

does it smell like fuel? have you pulled the plugs out to see if they are completely fouled with fuel? and i'll assume that this is a swap (sc) car. well, there could be more than a few issues and you're going to have to dig a little bit before anything real can be assessed.

toyotatechgeek was touching on the fact that there was no such car as an 86 s/c.... they came out in 88.... so that just means that your car has been swapped by a shop or an individual and something in the wiring might not be correct....

first thing i would do is run the car in idle and see if you can see/smell any fuel around the fuel rail or injectors...... gze's are getting old and the injector seals could be hard & leaking fuel.

also, like techgeek said, check the spark plugs to get an idea of how it's running. You might also want to (might help with the problem, but also as preventative maintenance) change the o2 sensor
