Rebuilt Transmissions

I'm looking for a place that either sells rebuilt Toyota transmissions or will rebuild mine. I have a '91 5sfe MR-2 and am looking to get a rebuilt transmission w/ limited slip but am having trouble finding a place. Thanks in advance.

Is the gearing taller on the turbo trans? I'm tired of being at 4grand going 80mph. Would the turbo gearing cause issues with the nonturbo engine?

specs

S54 - 5S-FE E153 3S-GTE
1st 3.285 1st 3.230
2nd 1.960 2nd 1.913
3rd 1.322 3rd 1.258
4th 1.028 4th 0.918
5th 0.820 5th 0.731
Rev 3.153 Rev 3.545
Diff 4.176 Diff 4.285

So actually the gearing is worse for top speed in the turbo tranny.
you'll be doing 80 at like 3700 instead... but considerably faster accerating.

and my understanding they made LSD and Non LSD in both trannys.

I would not recommend stuffing the turbo tranny into the 5SFE.
I also would not put any effort into putting an LSD into the NA.

LSD is pretty simple if you know transmissions... install a spring set and clutch pack in the pinion assembly and your done no fabrication or unusual modification needed.

and nothing is not worth it, it depends on wha you want it for.

you could even go kevlar clutches or even a torsen assembly if you want to multiply your torque output as well.

its whatever you want it for and how much you got to spend.

This car is basically my daily driver. I own an '05 SRT-4. I was thinking about doing a complete turbo swap, but I already have straighline performance w/ the SRT. Figured I would make it a handling car/fun to slide around in, hence the LSD. I would just add LSD to this tranny, but it grinds going into 3rd when I'm in high RPMs. Does jazzproparts.com sell transmissions seperately?

grinds into third.... you have bad 3rd gear syncronization.

str4 doesn't have a transaxle does it?

if it does you can do the LSD and replace all sycros while its apart.

if not... you got two sets of repairs to make.

also keep in mind hard downshifts wear syncros alot faster... if you learn to shift to "N" and rev match to the gear your tranny would prolly last the longest.

Ok, clarification time. The SRT-4 is perfectly fine. I was thinking about doing a turbo swap into the MR-2, but decided it wasnt worth the money. This especially being true since I get great straight line performance out of the SRT. My MR-2 is what I will be daily driving. The MR-2 grinds 3rd in higher rpms(I know its the syncro) and I would rather just replace the transmission or have it built than just fix the one syncro, reassuring it will last. If I am to replace the transmission in the MR-2, I might as well get the LSD. So my final question in this mess of information, is: Where can I either have my transmission rebuilt, or buy a rebuilt transmission w/ LSD?

The camry 4cyl NEVER came with an LSD. You can get an aftermarket LSD for the trans ayway though. Why dont you buy a camry manual and swap the case while you put in an LSD?

If you just want to rebuild your trans, why not take it to a local transmission specialist.
