2nd Generation Sunroof

Hello

I am looking at picking up a second MR2.
I have really become a fan of the MKII.

91 NA 5 Speed 5sfe engine, stock.
Has Sunroof, very cool as my 91 has T-tops.

My only complaint, which still is nothing to keep me from buying.

Sunroof has a large crack running all the way across glass, does not leak.
The rest of the roof is fine, latch works, opens, closes, comes out.
Outer seal around glass looked ok.

Can I get the glass replaced at glass shop?

I doubt a glass shop would carry the sunroof glass... but it's worth a try. If not I have one somewhere around here. For sale.

Naaa... but I've sold two of them used for $300/ea. with all hardware and the visor. So I doubt they are cheap.

They aren't cheap and they aren't real common. I would suggest checking out www.car-part.com to see if you can find one in a yard somewhere.

If you make a CF sunroof.... I'm IN! I would even go for fiberglass.

I called the dealer today on this, here is the breakdown on parts.
Sadly... the sunroof is not sold as one solid piece.

Glass --283$
Housing -- 287$
Weatherstrip -- 50$
Handle_Dark blue -- 165$

Also, NONE of these parts are available from the dealer. They were unable to locate them in any warehouses.

Good news is it looks like this item does come apart, and the glass only can be replaced.

I still am undecided in buying this car, but am leaving out now for another test drive in it. I have been patient in playing the "you go high I go low with the dealer" (not toyota dealer).
