Shifting issue - Anyone experience this?

lately my shifter has been freaking out from 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th. this happens usual when i try to quickly select those gears. what happens is when i go to select that gear it will go into ger but the shifter will flop all the way to the right past 5th. it kinda feels like there are no gears to select. i correct the problem by setting it back in neutral and retry the gear i want. i dunno if i described it well enuf.

nah thats not the problem i guess i'll have to take pictures when i t happens again. shifter just flops all the way to the right like i have a higher gear! as u might remember i changed my selector rod in the gearbox a few months back. maybe this is due to improper instalation or my actual shift cables are getting slack with age... i dunno. anyone else kinda get what i'm sayin?

I gotcha now...sounds like somethings come lose or apart to let the stick get over that far...YTou're gonna have to tear into it and check it out...I would think something in the linkage and not the tranny

That sounds similar to what happens when you loose a shifter cable... except you usually get stuck in the gear. How are all of your bushings between your shifter and tranny? How old are your shifter cables (they are pretty prone to breaking)?
