if it's an mk1 and a t-top... good luck

good friend bought an 87.... we got new t-top (and door) seals FROM TOYOTA...... still leaked like a motha-fucker..... we even tried the "weatherstripping RTV" trick that many people have done.... still leaked.... he sold the car only for that reason

the seals on the t-tops themselves leak.... and you have to buy new t-tops to get those seals....

Take the Tops off; get some good degreaser-type cleaner like an orange cleaner, and a lot of armor-all or such. Clean out the gaskets all over the windows and tops with the orange stuff. Get every little space there is, no matter how hard it is to get that space. There are a couple drains at the sides, let the orange cleaner run down these to help un-plug them. After it is completely clean, clean the backs of the T-tops where they mate to the car, and the gaskets on them. Then use the armor-all on the gaskets, applying like 4 or 5 coats at least. See how this works. Might work, might not. Cheaper and easier than replacing shit. This works in my experience with MR2s.... And trust me, you do NOT want to play with weather stripping!

DO NOT do the above. Amorall will deteriorate the weatherstripping. Any oil based lubricant/protectant will deteriorate rubber/polymer materials. DO NOT use vaseline for it will do the same. There are rubber/weatherstripping cleaner/protectants that you can buy just for this purpose. Mequires makes a good product, same with Mother's "back to black".

Most likely, this will still not fix your problem. The revitalizer will not make your strips like new. Save yourself some time and effort by replacing both weather strips (on the ttop glass itself and around the roof opening). Once installed properly, you will notice how hard it is to lock your ttops. The old ttop weather stripping flattens out over time, making the seal loose. Replacing the strips cured my problem on my mkII.

AH. That is what I used. I know it wasn't armorall per say; I just meant it as a generic. I honestly had no clue there were difference between such products.

.... back to black is meant for making unpainted bumpers and trim the not-faded color.... putting additives into the plastic

if you want to clean the surfaces.... use a cloth and rubbing alcohol
