3rd Generation Mod question 2002 spyder

Hey everyone, I recently purchased a 2002 mr2 spyder, 5 speed, 40k miles, And I have a few questions. First, Is it possible to disable the daytime running lights? My headlights are always on like most new cars, And i dont like it that way lol. 2nd, Has anyone had good expierence with cheap cold air intakes or whatever they call them, I really just want the pod filter. The car seems to choke at high rpms. Probably because its got a mad long stroke (compared to bore). Also, How hard is it to wire the newer style HID lights into the mr2 headlights...Ive never taken them apart to look, But it cant be that hard... Also, Has anyone ever found a space that a sub will fit in here? haha. There is like no room in this car for a stereo.

I don't like DRL's either. But i haven't done anything about it. And prolly won't. But they can be disabled.
I paid $28.00 for a CAI on ebay. essentially I just wanted the stainless pipe and hardware. The Filter was cheap and cheesy. So I bought a K&N Cone for it. Made a difference in throttle respone. But i had already installed a 8lb aluminum flywheel and pulley set, so it was already revving up quickly.
My Spyder does not "choke" at high RPM's. Don't know whats up there.
You can install subs, speakers in the doors of the rear compartments behind the seat. But you will lose some of what little storage capacity there is. Amp can go under the seat or even in front compartment.

Ever try the HID kit? I did on my dads and the spread is horrible. Even worse than my 99 Camry. I think it would be fine if you got a pair of 3.5 gen headlights. Did you ever find a CAI?

If the car was mine, I would go that route too. My dad should at least put a K&N in there.

Yes, it is possible and very simple to do. You need to pull one wire out of the harness located behind the driver's side kick panel. Here is a link to the article on SpyderMagazine.com and here is a follow up post on SpyderChat with pictures.

The Spyder's stock intake is a fairly good CAI design -- as the intake draws in air from space over the rear fender. I kept the stock airbox, replaced the stock air filter with an AFe drop-in filter, and replaced the 3" to 2.5" air inlet duct with a Spectre 3" flexible air inlet hose ($20 at PepBoys). The engine sounds a little deeper, but I can't prove any performance gains.

There seems to be a number of people on SpyderChat who claim very minor HP improvements from a CAI setup, but I haven't seen the dyno results to prove it. The Weapon R products seem very popular.

There's a vendor on SpyderChat who produces an enclosure for an 8" subwoofer that fits above the driver's side kick panel (directly above the clutch).
