Red face Lotus

Hello

On the way to toyota dealer, I decided to stop by the Porsche Dealer, who also sells Lotus.
I own neither, but was killing time...

The new Lotus Exige looks wicked, is in the high 60k$ range, but get this.

It has a 1.8L toyota VVTI engine, 190 hp @ 7800rpm, 138 lb ft torque @ 6800rpm.

Car is tiny, and boasts 4.3 in 0 - 60.

wow, old news! BTW: it's a 2ZZ and it's a VVTL-i, not a VVT-i. and...the Original Mk1.5 MR2 is getting 4.2 (or about to) 0-60 times for a fraction of the cost!

You are missing the point. The Lotus is quick but (IMHO) it is a poor drag car... but that isn't what it was designed for. It's a street legal track car for tight, curvy tracks. There are few new cars that can touch it's handling at any price.

I guess I could mod my Toyota Sienna to give it similar performance (well, ok – maybe not quite) but I’d still have a frick’n Sienna.

how am i missing the point? i'm no drag racer whatsoever. you think i don't know what a midship was disigned to do? give me a break! believe me when i say that the owner/builder/driver of the Original Mk1.5 knows also.

yeah, your Sienna is nothing more than a Camry with a minivan superimposed on top.

I thought it had a Ford ecotec in it. That was a while ago, though. I guess Lotus wised up!

Nooo... they used to use the old Type R motor. Whatever the hell that is... it's not the K20 though. Suppose its a B18 somethin or other.

it used the Honda B18C5 with higher compression and bigger cams. It's really just an upgraded B18C1 which is the GSR Integra motor with crank squirters extra block webing and a few other things. the K20 came in the RSX and the new SI's it's just an upgraded B series. If your thinking of the H22 that, it came in the Preludes and CRVs. I think it's the H20 or H22 which are 2.2L
