MK1 MR2 supercharged lid woes

First, I win one on ebay... for $230. It gets to my house... with three broken corners. Damn UPS.

Anyways, that is old news. The new news is I just brought it to a body shop, had it repaired and painted... and brought it home.

So far... so good.

I go to put it on... and guess what? No one ever told me it doesn't fit the NA. The latching mechanism is no where near where it is supposed to be.

I am NOT going to put hood pins on it, not after all the cash I blew to have it fixed like new.

So, it goes up on ebay. I KNOW I'll never get what I put into it back, but whatever I give up on this cursed thing.

Wow dude, that sucks. However, I guess it does teach us all an important lession: it really does pay to do a lot of reasearch before you buy parts, even for something as simple as a hood. I mean, who would have guessed that the NA and SC hoods are different? Not me. I guess that will be something for me to keep in mind for when I get my MR2.

It should fit on your car ... there is no reason why it shouldn't AFAIK.
There should be some amount of adjustability in where the latch lines up.

How far off is it?
Is it off left-to-right or front-to-back?

I'd ask for more insight on mr2oc.com before I just gave up on it.

Jeff,

The latch assembly that is spot welded to the chasis is several inches apart (left to right).

okay ... I learned something new everyday.

Thanks for chiming in Jody.
Aaron, if Jody is saying it, it has to be godo info

That is really bizzare that they would change the mounting points like that.

Yah tell me about it. I mean, I bolted it all up, went to latch it... and you'd think someone just told me there was no Santa Claus by the look on my face.
