2nd Generation Mr2 Problem!!!!

Hello i own a 91 mr2 turbo with a 2nd gen 3sgte engine. I am having trouble getting my car to start properly. When i put the key in my ignition and turn it to start it keeps trying to start my engine and will not stop i have to unplug my negitive ground to get it to stop! then smoke comes from my engine bay! Any ideas on whats going on here? help would be great! thank you.

hmm ide see if the starter relay is ok and connected all the way ...or if you start it wth the key and it keeps turning over ..hmm it might be something to do with the ignition switch .

I put my switch to the off position and take my key out of the ignition and it still trys to start my car and then i smell an electrical burning from the engine bay. I had my starter tested today and it tested Good. my ignition switch is acting kind of funny tho.

i Removed my ignition switch and noticed that they spliced into the ST1 Wire on the harness and the AM1 Wire looks burnt pretty bad it was attatched to a wire that was burnt also and shattered in my hand it was so bad. Im hopeing this is my problem figuring its like 42.00 for a new ignition switch. Does anybody know if that could be my problem?

2nd Generation Pics of Ignition Starter Switch!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres pics of the Ignition Starter Switch. I Beleive they use to have a Viper car alarm installed and uninstalled it! Would this make the starter keep starting and blow my 7.5 Ecu IG Fuse in the engine bay?

AM1 Wire Burnt.
ST1 Wire Contected to a splitter .
IG1 Wire Contected to a cut wire.

Heres a Pic of the ignition starter switch.

i would just make sure there are no extra hot wires going into your starter harness. if that doesnt work get a new ignition switch from auto zone or advanced auto, if it still doesnt work you know that the ignition switch isnt your problem and you can take it back.

i'd have to say there's a 98.7% chance that's your problem! LOL

those wires look pretty crispy!

Well . . . the clicking sound could be that of a dead battery. I dunno, but it happened to me a couple weeks ago on my 98 Saturn SL2 and I had to buy a whole new battery. Of course, it was the original battery that died.

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that it made this clicking sound, and that could be one of the things that is wrong. As for your fuse blowing, I have no idea about that.
