Question about the MKI supercharger

Hi. I was just on howstuffworks.com (great site for auto stuff, by the way) reading the article about superchargers and learned that there are three different types of superchargers. I was wondering what type of supercharger is on the 88-89 MR2s. The article stated that the centrifugal supercharger was the most common and most efficient, so I'm guessing that is what is on the MR2. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, I understand that having a supercharger puts added strain on the engine, so therefore the engine must be built stronger. I am wondering what is the difference between the 4A-GE and the 4A-GZE? Is the 4A-GZE built any differently (stronger) than the 4A-GE besides having a supercharger bolted onto the front?

Thanks for the help.

mr2 has a roots type charger.

Headgasket is stronger, lower comp pistons are used. Toyota bulit the 4ag motors pretty tough, they can handle the supercharger fine.

heads are the same.... they used thicker rods and the pistons are forged & ceramic coated.... they also used a larger flywheel and much stronger transmission

But you could still put a supercharger on the 4A-GE without causing too much strain right?

I'm not saying that I'm necessarily gonna do this, as I would much prefer an SC MR2, but I'm just trying to keep my options open.
