It would go against everything Toyota has built themselves to become. Family oriented, gas saving, sedans and SUV's. Same reason the Celica was phased out, along with the Supra and MR2. Toyota has been slowing removing themselves from the sport compact arena. Scion was introduced to allow for car with more "attitude" than Toyota's current line-up. If the MR2 we're to be brough back, I'd expect it too be brought back under the Scion name. The Supra will most likely be brought back under the Lexus brand.

MR2 - Mid-engine, Rear-wheel drive, 2-seater.

Somehow AWD does not exactly fit in there.
... although there were a few AWDs made for racing.
I think I have seen documentation on 2 or 3.

Wow, that's cool. I wish I could read Japanese so that I could understand what it says though. Is there anyone here that could translate it for us. I know it's a lot to write, but maybe they could just tell us basically what it says.

MMmmm 2GR+ CVT tranny and hybrid assist on both the front and rear wheels, thats going to be a MONSTER if they release it.

I think that article is kinda old though because they are still talking about the 3MZ. In the photo the engine is clearly an MZ bassed block.

Unfortunately Toyota STILL doesnt get it. To sell, the MR2 needs to be powerfull AND INEXPENSIVE!! Those components would price that car near the same level as the IS350 hybrid! If they can keep the price down I would buy one. CVT in a sports car though? I would have to drive it before placing an order.
