667rwhp from a stock internal MR2 Turbo?

I've been speaking with someone who claims to have a stock internal MR2 Turbo making 667rwhp and ~485rwtq.

Sadly they seem unable to posts a picture, video, dyno or any other form of proof of its existance.

Is this level of HP really possible on STOCK internals, and as it's a street car one must also assume its on pump fuel (91 or 93 octane)? It is also being claimed that it's driveable and reliable, such as much that its been used in such form for 3 years.

I know modern DOHC 2.0 engines are most impressive, such as the Ford Cosworth unit and Mitshi Evo's. But I've never heard of such an extreme setup.

They also claim stock MR2 Turbo's run low 13's in the 1/4 mile stock and are massivly underatted (hinting more than once that they produce over 300bhp stock).

I'm not bashing on MR2's but my own knowledge on them is nothing more than idle curiosity.

Thanks for your help.

A little more info.

The 667rwhp was acheived at a claim 27psi, since then they have apparantly got new injectors and are now running 33-34psi with a better tune?

On other posts they have claimed that over 700rwhp is easy on stock internal MR2's and even 800rwhp.

They also claim 11.2 @ 131mph 1/4 mile for the 667rwhp setup. Seems a little low on the trap side, considering a 460rwhp C6 Z06 Corvette is capable of 127mph traps.

I made 440 rwhp on a stock engine ... I'm at 567 on a built engine.

My 440 rwhp got me to 11.1 @ 128 mph.
It sounds like your "friend" is full of it

Agreed, 600 or 700 from the 3S-GTE is even getting close to breaking the block itself. Check the MR2OC and you will find a few post of people who have actually cracked/pulled the blocks appart at those power levels and those are built engines. Stock bottom end on a 3s, not gunna happen.

besides..the mr-2 was never really made to have a rediculeous amount of power it can actually get traction when it launches(sometimes mabe to much),and to me it is not exactly the best drag car anyway, good at it yes but not the best choice from toyota, to me it is a car to give those high$$$ cars a run for there money on the track

but to reply to your 1/4 mile remark the j spec mr-2 from japan did hit mid 13 passes stock, atleast from what i have seen, but i dont think any us spec mr-2 ever hit 13 stock...

No one has done a 13 in a stock US MR2 - it's not physically possible.
