USA A/C question

Howdy all,my A/C never worked due to the fact that the pulley belt that goes to the compressor is not operational. What I mean to say is that the bolt that the pulley is attached to is snapped so I cant attach a belt to it. My question is,can you just get a new bolt for it and how would you swap the snapped bolt for the new?? Seems like you need a whole new pulley assembly but I dunno.....thanks ya'll.

if the bolt is through a threaded hole i dont see why you couldnt just pull it out and put a new one in, or replace everything, i cant imagine it's too expensive with used parts.

A temporary fix?

1.) Emergency Belt.

Autozone used to sell them. These belts have a screw/bolt holding them together and can be adjusted to many different sizes easily.

its late in the season for A/C so a temp fix is not necessary.

now i'm having trouble comprehending the issue. no bolt holds a belt on. a bolt holds the pulley on, but A/C doesn't use a "pulley"... but the compression's magnetic clutch assembly. so if what you saying makes any sense like if the bolt is broke that hold the clutch on, that doesn't stop you from attaching belt since the idle pully holds the tensioner for the A/C belt. so you could attach one but you'd worry about the pulley flying off?

i dunno... take a picture... might help
