2nd Generation Bodyshop :(

My car is going into the shop in an hour or so and I'm heartbroken. I want it fixed but I don't want it to be anywhere but in my posession!

It's an insurance claim left over from July... someone rear ended me at a readlight, told the cop that he thought I was going to run the light so he sped up to do it too but I didn't run it, and he didn't have time to stop... so I got a 2006 Suberu Forrester in my ass end. I was sitting in the car in shock because I saw the car coming in my rear view mirror but I didn't really have time to react, plus I was at an intersection and had no where to go... so I hear that horrible noise - fiberglass breaking. and I was like... oh man, i'm gonna get out and see my bumper across the whole damned road..

I got out and didnt see any damage at first, but then I noticed that it was a little messed up, it cracked my bumper in a lot of places and shattered the paint, cracked my quater panels... (my bumper is molded to the quater panels, theres no lines on the back of the car)

So the car is in the shop to get a new rear bumper, have my quater panels entirely redone, and possibly get the existing damage fixed (The previous owner side swiped a BUS when he was drunk, it messed up the molding on the fender to side skirt, the side skirt to quater panel, messed up the PS. fender. The front bumper could use a little work too but it isn't molded so it won't be so bad when I get that done later.

If I have the money, the insurance claim is going to take care of the damage their caused (2,200$) I'm gonna get my antenna shaved off of my roof, get my passenger's side fixed and MAYBE my front bumper.

The big problem is that there is no paint code for my car, I HATED the color when I first saw a pic of it but in person I just love it, I don't want it to be a shade off...

heres pics of what the damage from the accident is :

^ Thats the blow that killed the bumper

I don't know how long it will take, hes probably taking it apart today or tomorrow morning, then another insurance apraiser has to come see it, then I'm coming to see it to get pictures of it. I don't know how long to get it back together since the quater panels have to be completely taken apart and reshaped. :\ I'm hoping I have it back sometime next week but I'm not holding my breath.

I know it's in good hands, I just dropped it off. The bodyshop owner is really good, and very nice, but he was joking around with a sawsall, because he knew I was really upset about leaving my car, but I got all teared up

My bf and I went back to his job so I could drive the truck around till we pick up the rental car soon and someone there was talking to me about how its gonna be ok and his car is going to the shop too, my bf said that it's different bc this car is my baby... and the guy trid to say his was his baby too ( a neon who he beats the piss out of) then my bf told him that I spend a minimum of 5 hours a week cleaning my car and he stopped talking, so that was funny

I hope so. The rental car is a 07 Cobalt LS. I think the LS stands for Lame Shit.

Well, at least the damage doesn't look too bad. I mean, at least you don't have a compact MR2 now.

Hahahahaha! Well how hard did he hit you? Was it a love tap or did he seriously slam into you?

Another question: is the Cobalt really that bad? If so, that makes me a sad panda because I kinda liked that car. Well, then again I guess if it is LS (luxury sport?), it won't be as good as the SS (super sport?), which is still nowhere near as cool as the MR2. Yeah, all these abbreviations confuse me sometimes.

i dont know what the LS is, I am used to speed so the cobalt is not my stlye , some say that the SS is quick because its supercharged but you can tweak a slow engine and its just a little faster than slow.

This is other things I dislike about the car.

The seats - very uncomfortable.
The trunk - HUGEEEEE trunk, but the trunk opening is very small, so you couldnt carry anything in the big trunk if you wanted.
The guauges - today at one point the gauges said I was getting 96.4 MPG This is complete BS.
Sound - stock sound system is a huge pile of crap, it sounds horrible, and the stereos are crappy or something is wrong with the antenna because the stations I get with the other car don't even come in clear enough to listen to - in the same conditions.
Acceleration - no pick up at all
quality - i know this car is a more 'fairly priced' vehicle, but everything in it feels cheap. you touch something it feels like you could break it by accident if you bumped it.
steering wheel - i find it entirely uncomfortable to hold, and touching it is icky, i hate the way it feels.
also accel: the car lurches forward, like... you put the gas, it does nothing but putt putt putt then all of the sudden it kicks in and it's very annoying, it feels like the tranny is shot or something, because our one vehicle has a bad tranny and does that.
turning: I didn't feel safe in the car hitting turns at the speed limit, this might be because i am used to my mr2 but i don't know.

this car im using is fairly new. it is a 2007 LS Coupe and it's got something like 7100 miles on it.

this car looks a lot better on TV than it does in person. i remember the commercials for it when it first came out, not my style but it didnt look half bad. driving it reminds me why i have a toyota.

oh and about the hit, i don't know.. like he moved my car, but he didn't cause (as far as i know, well know when its torn apart) any actual damage other than cosmetic. I remember it scared the crap out of me.
