non turbo to Turbo swap¿?¿?¿?

Hi im new here. i was wondering how hard it would be to swap a turbo motor into a non turbo mr2, if u had the ecu and all the wiring. Ive heard u have to pull the motors from the bottom on the mr2s bc they are mid engine is this true and if so how hard is that if u can get it on a lift. any info would help thanks

well mr2's are hard to chance out. you do have to get a lift and the engine comes out the bottom. you will need ecu, wireharness, tranny, engine, axles. if you buy a rear clip then you should be able to do it just fine. but you have to no what your doing if your going to do this swap yourself. i swaped a 97 3rd gen 3sgte in my 92 non turbo.

Whoa

First of all, the engine definately has to come out from the bottom, I pulled out the 2.2 liter from my 91 N/A years ago, replaced the clutch, and did all of this from the top... it was a pain in the ars, and I almost broke the back window with the tranny... is was NOT fun... especially using a blazer as a engine hoist, lmao.... we youngins always think of doing the stupidest things...... after was all said and done, we ended up giving the car back to toyota with an engine and tranny away from the car, and a bucket of bolts to go along with it. We said put it back in... It took us two dayas to get the motor, tranny out and replace the clutch.
I feel very sorry for the mechanic, but this was only replacing a clutch... so I highly recommend taking out from the bottom. The car I currently just bought has the motor swap, and it is fantastic. I would highly recommend it to any non-turbo mr2 owners.
It is expensive to do the swap even if u do it yourself, and a long journey.... but you would definately be better off buying the rear clip, like the last person said, and replacng, the ecu, motor , tranny, and engine along with the axles and so on and so forth... u will SAVE alot of mula doing it this way, plus u get an extra rear spoiler, gas cover, ect.
Wish you luck m8. : Brian
