engine/tranny question

Hi guys, I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with. Not sure what section to post in, so figured I'd start here:

I am planning on building a kit car soon, and would like to use Toyota power. The car only weighs 1300 lbs., so a stock motor will work fine. I'm looking for an engine that is NA, up to 2.0 liters and has 150-220 hp. My problem is the car is RWD and I have no idea what transmissions will work with certain engines. I'm leaning towards the 3sge, but don't know what tranny I can use with it. Are there other engines you guys suggest? Is there a list of engine/tranny combos that are a simple bolt-on?

Hope you can help. Thanks.

Joe

Tough

Well first of all, u are looking at running all the way to the back, and on an mr-2 u are running on a cv-axle, which would keep you front wheel drive, the 3sgte is a turbo motor, and is a 2.0 with 200 hp at the flywheel... The N/A version of the mr-2 is a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder, so thats over your size dimensions. And I believe that the celica all trac is front wheel drive, so u might be better off going with maybe a solara engine, which are almost all 4 cylinders, however I duno the size of the motor... Wish I could be more help : Brian

I am not aware of any 4-cylinder Toyota engine that can be mounted in the front and still be RWD. All of their 4-cylinders that I am aware of use a transaxle which means the drive wheels are going to be where the engine is.

Why not look at the Supra engines?
