Project cars?????

Alright so hears the deal: I want a project car that will be under 5k, I want to put 3k into it over time and sell it to make a profit of about 2-3k. Do you think this is posible, also I would have to have to car for about 3-5 years before selling it.

I was looking at: (in no order)
- mk2 mr2
- mk2 mr2 turbo
- 300zx
- 300zx t-turbo
- 3000gt vr4

what do you think is best. thanks

ok

I would stay away from the mitsubishi line for your project, The nissan z series are way too expensive for what u are looking to do, the N/A Mr2's are not a great resale, however the mr2 turbo is an option... I have seen a few that have 130,000 summod miles on them, that run fine, but need paint, maybe some minor dent removal, and some touchups on the interior... this sounds like your ballpark... however a bodykit, like the tom's bodykit would be a smart purchase for it can be purchased at around the 600.00 mark for the basic kit... this of course does not include spoiler or scoops, I think the spoiler is an extra 2- 300.00 range... u can use this kit with the factory spoiler, before u paint the car... make sure it runs smooth, and make a great profit from a perfect hardly modified car that u didn't have to do that much to.
This is my advise, and u might make a little profit on it, it isn't rare to see an mr2 sold for 10,000.00 but the market will be hard as u will need someone who wants to pay with his or her own cash... Mitsubishi's are worthless 3000's....... pieces of garbage, won't hold it's value... sorry mitsu lovers

The mr-2 turbo is a great car i doubt you will sell it once you drive it you will fall in love, but if you whant a car to mod and sell the 240sx with a SR20DET or a RB25DET engine and Convert the front bumper and headlights to silvia ones and make a S14.5 it will depend on the cost on the 240sx but they arent that expensive..

Really, you just need to do research on anything you are looking at. you can make a tidy profit on any car if you get the right price to start with. If you are willing to take the time to find the right car. But with just the average deal I would steer clear of the mitsu. I have heard alot of bad things about them, tough to work on and not able to hold it's value. Turbo Mr2s are definately a better buy than no, because a turbo is quite a good selling point. Throwing on a body kit, an exhaust, and some new paint, (as well as making sure the car runs great) make for great selling points and would sell well to the young crowd. I don't know a whole lot about Nissans, but I do know they are generally a good car, and sell well to the import crowd.
Hope this helps
