fixing the problems

ok after a while this jdm motor has run great but things are starting to break on it (i figured this seeing as how i do autocross and drag) but anyway does anyone know the prices for these replacement parts?
transmission may get rebuilt fully all new syncros (2nd gear is grinding at high rpm's will NOT go in no matter what i do) all the other gears are fine i just want to get all them replaced because i know as soon as i fix it anotherone will go out
is the trans rebuilt worth it ? how much is a new one with and without lsd

alternator sqeaks when battery is at a low charge is about 180$ at autozone for a new one i think i can do this myself but is there any annoying things i need to look out for when replacing this ?

after these it is back to upgrading it and getting it ready to race for the spring summer and fall just like this year

I would contact CraiggieB on www.mr2oc.com.
He sells parts for Thompson Toyota and gives us great prices.
Tell him I sent you.

The 93LSD trannies are actually cheaper (and a LOT better) than the 91s.
If you are buying a tranny, I would suggest you buy the 93.
If you can afford it, go the LSD, but you will also need new inner stubs for your axles.

as for the tranny i dont know exactly what a new one will cost you but i can tell you this i just recently last year had my 2nd gear done in my 21 and the gear alone was $720 becuase toyota no longer makes the 91 2nd gear! along with all of the other work that goes with rebuilding the gears and putting it back in was around $1600 and the guy said that he took some off the price becuase he felt bad the gear was so much! so i would say cost to effect ratio go with the new tranny even if you cant race this coming year. The power is no good if you cant get it to the ground! i agree with hyde check with mr2oc they will best be able to give you a dollar figure on a tranny! good luck and keep her out of the wall!

This is a used engine and transmission... so for the price of the rebuilt tranny u could have an extra parts engine!!

true

However if u can just get the whole engine and transmission for 12-1300 $$ u would get an extra engine to build up, or just use for spare parts, plus doing a rebuild is an absolute nightmare... Then u are hoping u get a good 5th gear after all that work.... sorry but that sucks, plus junkyards are really expensive as they treat their cars like gold peices of garbage.
