Ecu upgrade.

Hey there is a guy selling a 3rd gen 3s-gte JDM Ecu. Is this Ecu a direct upgrade from my 2nd gen usdm ecu?? if so what would be the gains?? and another question what is a better upgrade a intercooler or a downpipe?? thx in advance .

As for the second question, I would say the intercooler, but replacing the b pipe is the best bet on the mr2 not the downpipe

you'd be dumping your emissions data. might have a different air/fuel setup... but you can get that w/ an aftermarket fuel press regulator.

upgrading an intercooler has about the save effects as upgrading your intake system on any normal car.
too small is bad
too big is bad

The 3rd gen ecu won't work on your gen2 car. Don't waste your time or money with it. The Gen3 ditched the AFM and uses the map sensor instead. The wiring and pinouts are different. The fuel maps are different, and the gen 3 used bigger injectors, among several other differences.

#2- Better depends on your goals. The IC is a safety measure against detonation, so I'd personally recommend it first.
